Recreation Coordinator

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Part-Time)

Hourly: $15-$17 /hr (depending on experience)

The Program Coordinator position with LiveDAYBREAK is a great fit for anyone studying recreation, experience design, or for anyone looking to pursue a people-focused and rewarding field in a part-time capacity.

The Recreation Coordinator will plan, organize, and implement a robust calendar of community programs and events for Daybreak residents. The Coordinator must embrace the five community pillars: connectivity, life-long learning, healthy living, giving back, and embracing arts and diversity. This is not a desk job. Many events are held on weekends and evenings; a flexible schedule is required.

The Recreation Coordinator's essential duties include:

  • Creating weekly or monthly programming for residents of all ages
  • Assisting Recreation Managers with large, multi-faceted events
  • Executing, running, and hosting monthly events
  • Assisting in event set-up and break-down
  • Contributing to a successful summer concert series
  • Corresponding with vendors and residents
  • Administrating tasks typical of an office setting

Additional duties or job functions may be required as deemed necessary.

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • A dynamic and people-oriented personality
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office programs
  • Communication skills; written and verbal
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Organization
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work outside in the heat and cold
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR/AED

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Valid driver's license and an excellent driving record
  • Education or interest in event planning
  • Customer service experience

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Communications Coordinator

The Communications Coordinator position with LiveDAYBREAK is an incredible opportunity for anyone, including students, who are looking to gain experience in the field of communications, including: public relations, content creation, social media, marketing, graphic design, media relations, etc.

This part-time opportunity can serve as a paid internship for those looking for that type of position.

LiveDAYBREAK is a non-profit arm of Daybreak Communities located in South Jordan, Utah. The mission of LiveDAYBREAK is to create a sense of community and to help residents live more fulfilling lives. LiveDAYBREAK fulfills this mission by implementing five pillars in the Daybreak community: Connecting, Lifelong Learning, Embracing Arts & Diversity, Healthy Living and Giving Back. The organization executes a robust calendar of community events and activities, sponsors public art, and engages in a variety of initiatives focused on giving back.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Experience working with community groups
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong communication skills; written and verbal
  • Problem solving and issue resolution skills
  • Experience with volunteers
  • Understanding of media relations and digital media strategies
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Familiarity with design software (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign) and content management systems is a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The Communications Coordinator should be physically able to perform and assist in the various roles and responsibilities as described including:

  • Event set-up and break down
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 pounds
  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Work outdoors in the heat and cold

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid driver's license and an excellent driving record
  • Nonprofit agency or organization experience
  • Two-years customer service experience
  • Substantial editing and researching skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • High School Diploma - college preferred - 1-year experience in a similar setting

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • First Aid/CPR/A ED certified
