May 2019 V.A.C. Award: Melanie Ogomo

LiveDAYBREAK is excited to spotlight Melanie Ogomo for this month's Volunteer Activities Council Award. The Ogomo family moved to Utah December 2016 after living in Idaho for five years. Their friends recommended a neighborhood called Daybreak and they immediately fell in love with the family- friendly community. At the time, the Ogomos had two boys and were expecting a third boy. Now the family has four children: Xavier, Tayshaun, Jarvis and Savannah.

Once they moved to Daybreak, the family attended a New Resident Social and learned all about LiveDAYBREAK’s community events. Now you can find them at almost any LiveDAYBREAK event.

I tell my boys that if you want to see more events, then you need to attend events. If you want to change your community, then volunteer,” Melanie said. “Volunteering has always came naturally to be as I have previously helped with nonprofits and have a Degree in Family Studies.”

Most recently, Melanie helped to organize the first ever Prom 2.0 in Daybreak which turned out to be a big hit. She and her kids also volunteered at the Hippity Hop Photo op. They are always willing to serve in any way they can. The community is lucky to have them!
