Chilly Dip: A Frozen Dip into the Community Pool

2021 Information

On Saturday, February 20th at noon, some crazy Daybreak Residents and other surrounding community members will be breaking the ice on the outdoor pool and taking a “Chilly Dip” into the Daybreak Community Pool. The “Chilly Dip” will be hosted by LiveDAYBREAK and is a charity event for the YWCA Utah. The YWCA Utah is a women’s shelter in downtown Salt Lake and supports thousands of families every year. The YWCA Utah’s vision is to have all Utah women thriving and leading the lives they choose with their strength benefiting their families and communities.

Before the jump, we will have a costume contest with the top 3 costumes receiving a prize each hour.

“The YWCA kept my friend's family from being homeless for almost 10 years,” said Henri Johnson, LiveDAYBREAK Program Coordinator. After visiting the YWCA in Salt Lake, LiveDAYBREAK Director Dan Rodgerson said, “It’s really remarkable everything the YWCA does, and we wanted to do something really great for them.” Dan Rodgerson is the mastermind behind the “Chilly Dip” and jumping into the community pool. Daybreak resident Nycole Rosen was recently discussing the Chilly Dip on the Podcast called Radio Daybreak and said she wasn’t sure if she will be jumping in the pool. Still, she has already purchased her ticket in support.

LiveDAYBREAK is inviting all to come and join the cause for YWCA Utah. If they are brave enough, they are invited to jump in and join the activities.

After jumping in the pool, enjoy a nice warm shower. Due to the CDC guidelines, jumpers will be asked to do the chilly dip in different time slots to keep everyone socially distanced.  We ask that attendees practice social distancing and adhere to Salt Lake County and Face coverings are required while in attendance.
