April 2021 R.A.D. Award: Rachael Van Cleave
Rachael Van Cleave is the Resident Appreciation in Daybreak (R.A.D.) Award recipient for April 2021!
One neighbor nominated Rachael for the following reason, “About a year ago Rachael wanted to get the community involved in running and fitness. She formed the South Jordan Run Club and it has grown! Beginner runners to long-distance runners have joined. The club meets up to run every Thursday at North Shore or Highland Park at 5:30 pm, and every Saturday at 8 am. She’s very enthusiastic and supportive. She and some other Daybreakers recently finished a Spartan event in Mesquite, Nevada. She is also involved in a FiA group (Females in Action). She is a great example of fitness and wellness for the community.”
As of this month, Rachael has lived in Daybreak for five years with her husband Darren, 4-year-old son Wesley, dog Boo Radley and cat Jenna. What she likes most about Daybreak is how connected the community is through trails, beautiful outdoor spaces, and the amazing events. She also served as the chair of the Daybreak Arts Council for a few years.
Originally from Dallas, Texas, Rachael attended Texas Christian University and received her BA in International Journalism and History with a minor in Italian. She loves to run, exercise, compose music, go to theater performances and movies, garden, plays bass guitar, and sing for her church. She has an addiction for Sierra Trading Co. workout gear and her favorite things to eat include Ethnic foods, wine, and bread.
When asked something quirky about her she said, “I love weird things. I call them ‘strange and wonderful.’ Most of the time when I say something is ‘weird’ it is promptly followed by “I LOVE it!’ “
