Bollywood Festival


We are bringing back and extending the Bollywood Festival into a three-day cultural celebration!
 


June 23rd, 7:30 - 9 pm, Lower Brookside Park, 4892 Fish Hook Rd. 

We're kicking off our three-day Bollywood cultural celebration with a sunset meditation led by Ramdas Ormond. Meditation 101: Meditation Made Easy, will teach mantras and breathing techniques that will help clear your mind from the commotion of day-to-day stressors.

Techniques you'll experience:
Two simple breathing techniques
Mantra Meditation
Yoga Nidra (guided sleep meditation) can be practiced seated in a chair if needed

Please bring a yoga mat, blanket, or pillow cushion to sit on; you can also sit in a comfortable lawn chair.  A blanket for warmth, a journal and pen, Japamala, and water would also be beneficial to bring.

Thali DinnerWe will be holding a traditional Thali Dinner, hosted by Saffron Valley! Thali is the cornerstone of the Indian dining experience. Containing a proper balance of six tastes, Thali provides all of the flavor elements believed to be needed for optimum health. In addition to the meal, we will also have live entertainment and music to make this an immersive dining experience! There will be two meal choices, vegetarian and regular. 

Vegetarian Thali Menu:
Samosa: savory pastry filled with potatoes and green peas
Naan: clay oven-baked flatbread
Rice: steamed basmati rice
Yellow Dal: simmered lentils seasoned with curry leaves
Paneer Saag: cottage cheese cubes in a spinach curry sauce
Tava Vegetables: spice sautéed vegetables
Papad: crisp lentil wafers
Chutneys and Salad: condiments and bean salad
Gulab Jamun: doughnut hole in a sweet syrup

Regular Thali Menu:
Samosa: savory pastry filled with potatoes and green peas
Naan: clay oven-baked flatbread
Rice: steamed basmati rice
Yellow Dal: simmered lentils seasoned with curry leaves
Chicken Tikka Masala: grilled chicken bites in a tomato sauce
Tandoori Chicken: clay oven-baked chicken drumsticks
Papad: crisp lentil wafers
Chutneys and Salad: condiments and bean salad
Gulab Jamun: doughnut hole in a sweet syrup  

There are three-time windows in which we are allowing entrance into the building, 7:00, 7:15, and 7:30. All of the windows will allow you to stay until you have finished your meal.

about-daybreak-photoThe culmination of our three-day celebration of Indian culture will be topped off with delicious Indian food, henna artists, and live performances from local talent! The event is free to attend, but if you are interested in purchasing a table on the field to enjoy your meal and the live performances the price is $20.

Included in the $20 is a take-home gift, but the food is not included. Tables will have four chairs and a specific table cannot be reserved in advance. Each table reservation is good for 1 hour and 45 minutes, this is to ensure the clearing and cleaning of the tables before the next session begins.
